A photo taken at an elevation of 6000′ near the lesser peak of Jabal al-Maqla, located about 5.5 miles SSE of the peak of Jabal al-Lawz. The black rock is very ancient Precambrian volcanic basalt. The light rock in the foreground is white marble, which was quarried from this spot in antiquity. The rock below these strata is the ambient salmon-colored granite (author’s photo).

The author’s 2019 book, The Exodus Mysteries: of  Midian, Sinai & Jabal al-Lawz delves deeply into this topic.
